Looking to get out with friends and have some fun on campus?  Campus Recreation provides opportunities for social and emotional wellness by having different special events on campus throughout the year. The following are Special Events offered through the Department of Campus Recreation. Click on the events below for more information or to register (if required). Steps with Student Affairs Leadership

  • Every 3rd Thursday of the Month | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
  • Andrews Student Recreation & Wellness Center: Track
  • Join us for a monthly wellness walk with leaders from the Division of Student Affairs! This informal, energizing event is designed to promote physical activity, build community, and foster open dialogue between Student Affairs staff and campus leadership. Each walk offers a unique opportunity to connect with directors, staff, and peers while enjoying the outdoors and prioritizing your well-being. Whether you're looking to share ideas, ask questions, or simply take a break from your day, this walk is for you. All fitness levels are welcome, and no registration is required—just bring your walking shoes and a positive spirit!

    FREE to participate for ALL YSU faculty and staff with a current/valid YSU ID! If you are not a member or the Rec Center please arrive 5 minutes before the program starts with a valid YSU ID to receive you complimentary program pass.

Grip Strength Competition

  • Test your strength with Adventure Red to see who has the strongest grip in the YSU climbing community!

Climbing Day Trip

  • Saturday, November 8, 2025 | Leaving from Rec Center
  • Youngstown, Ohio
  • Climb at one of the local crags in Youngstown, Ohio with the Adventure Rec Team! All transportation and equipment will be provided, no experience necessary. Cost: $20 per person.

Lead Climbing Clinic

  • Saturday, November 22, 2025 | 10:00AM - 3:00PM
  • Climbing Wall
  • Learn how to lead climb with the Adventure Rec Climbing Wall Instructors. Top belay certification is a requirement for this program and personal climbing equipment is recommended to participate. $15 per person

Badminton Tournament

  • Eastwood Mall Complex - Niles, OH
  • Join Campus Rec for a fun night of arcade games, epic prizes, and unbeatable vibes at Dave and Buster’s—and unleash your inner kid! Transportation is provided. Students will cover food cost and must be 21 years or older with a valid ID to purchase alcohol.
