FALL 2025

Labor Day | September 1 | University Closed/No Classes

Enjoy your holiday!

Silly Science Sunday | September 14| 11:00am-4:00pm

Location: Wean Park, Youngstown

YSU STEM joins our friends at OHWOW to celebrate Silly Science Sunday. Learners of all ages should check out this free community event with tons of hands-on and interactive activities and demonstrations. See website for details

STEM Expo | October 2 | 12:00pm-4:00pm

Location: Stambaugh Stadium, check-in @ Gym C

Current STEM students and STEM alumni are encouraged to attend the Fall STEM Expo. Over 120 local, regional, and national employers will be present to recruit students to co-ops, internships, and full-time positions. Students can find more information, along with the list of registered employers, on Handshake. Employers wishing to participate should also create a Handshake account to get started.

Manufacturing Day | October 3 | 9:00am-1:00pm

High school students visit the Excellence Training Center at YSU to learn about careers in manufacturing by participating in interactive activities and meeting local employers. Hosted in collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturer's Coalition.

JCPenney Suit Up | October 5 | 12:00pm-3:00pm

Location: Eastwood Mall

Each year, YSU partners with JCPenney to host two Suit-Up events, providing students, faculty and staff with an additional 30% off in-store or online towards career clothing and related accessories. YSU community members are also permitted to bring guests.

NEOEA Day Professional Development for Teachers | October 10 | 9:00am-11:30am

Location: Williamson Innovation Park

Teachers looking for a professional development opportunity on October 10th are invited to register for our "Launch into Learning: Mastering the Science of Catapults" workshop and test your design engineering skills on building and testing your own catapult. Cost is $10 and includes snacks and all materials. More information and link to register can be found on the website.

Penguin Preview Day | October 18 | 8:30am-1:00pm

Interested in becoming a YSU Penguin? Preview Day is a great chance to learn about campus and whatever major you're considering. Check out the Office of Admissions websitefor details and to register.

Sokolov Honors College Open House | October 20 | 10:00am-2:00pm

The YSU Honors College Open House is your chance to learn about the honors student experience, tour our residence hall, and interact with current honors students, staff, and faculty. Whether you are just starting to look or already sure you want to apply, everyone can take something away from this day! Visit the Honors College website for more information and to register.

Experience the Night Sky | October 27 | 6:30pm-9:00pm

Location: Williamson Innovation Park

The Ward Beecher Planetarium and Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society are excited to offer this opportunity to view the night sky at the Williamson Innovation Park. This event is free and open to the public. Telescopes provided. Registration recommended in case of cancellation due to poor viewing conditions, or stay up-to-date by checking the WB Planterium Facebook page.

MegaMath | November 13 | 8:30am-1:45pm

Each year, the YSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics sponsors the annual YSU MegaMath Day. The purpose of this one day event is to celebrate the beauty and power of mathematics with three hundred middle school students (grades 5-8) from northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. STEM Fair at the YSU Women's Basketball Game | November 16 | 12:30pm-5:00pm

Location: Beeghly Center

Join YSU STEM at the Lady 'Guins basketball game as they take on Bucknell at 2:00pm. We'll have a variety of STEM-themed activities and community partners on-hand to engage with learners of all ages.

Thanksgiving Break | November 26-28 | University Closed/No Classes

The University is open but there are no classes on Wednesday, November 26th. The university is closed/no classes on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th.

STEM Awards Ceremony and Fundraising Dinner | December 11 | 5:00pm-10:00pm
