PortalPete & Penny Days for Summer 2025
YSU Campus Recreation is excited to offer Pete & Penny Days for a few select days for Summer 2025. These dates are 06/20/25 & 07/11/25, and 07/25/25. Activities will be 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, before and after care is NOT offered currently. These will be offered to any YSU Faculty, staff or previously registered Pete & Penny's summer campers! Spots are limited to the first 30 campers. You will receive an email with more info upon registration.
Each day of camp is packed with exciting activities, hands-on experiences, and unforgettable fun! From sports and teamwork to beach adventures and school spirit, every camper will have a blast exploring new challenges and making lasting memories.
All scheduled activities and themes are subject to change based on availability, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances.
Sun, Sand, and Penguin Fun
Dive into a tropical adventure with "Penguins on the Beach!" This action-packed day blends the excitement of summer with the charm of everyone's favorite waddling birds. Campers will enjoy beach-themed games, hands-on crafts, and activities that bring the ocean to life—without leaving campus.
Featured Activities:
- Rock Wall – Climb to the top and test your strength.
- Ocean in a Bottle Craft – Create a swirling ocean in a jar.
- Beach Slime – Make stretchy, sandy slime that looks like the beach.
- VR Arctic Experience – Take a virtual trip to the icy world of penguins.
- Penguin Freeze Dance – Dance like a penguin, then freeze when the music stops.
- Ocean Battle (Squirt Gun Fight) – Cool off with an exciting water fight.
- Butler Art Museum Visit – Explore creativity at the Butler Art Museum.
- Pete the Penguin Appearance – Meet YSU’s mascot and take a photo.

Show Your YSU Pride
It’s time to celebrate everything YSU at "Red and White Spirit." Campers will dive into the excitement of school spirit, explore campus life, and take part in activities that bring out their inner Penguin. From obstacle courses to hands-on crafts, this day is all about fun, pride, and community.

- Pete the Penguin Appearance – Meet YSU’s mascot and take a photo.
- High Ropes Course – Conquer new heights and challenge yourself.
- Pom Pom Craft – Make your own pom poms and cheer in style.
- Pennant Flag Craft – Design a YSU-themed flag to take home.
- Carnival Games – Try classic carnival games and win fun prizes.
- YSU Police Visit – Explore police vehicles and learn from YSU officers.
- Mineral Museum Visit – Discover the wonders of rocks and minerals.
- Archery Activity – Take aim and test your skills.

Sports, Teamwork, and Fun
Get ready to play, compete, and shine like a true YSU star. "YSU Allstars" is all about discovering new sports, building teamwork skills, and having a blast with friends. Whether it’s basketball, soccer, or a creative craft, campers will experience the joy of sports in a fun and supportive environment.

- YSU Athlete Meet-and-Greet – Meet YSU athletes, get autographs, and hear their stories.
- VR Sports Experience – Step into the game with virtual reality.
- Just Dance – Show off your best moves in a fun dance session.
- Design a Jersey – Get creative and design your own sports jersey.
- Sports Bracelet Craft – Make a keepsake with fun beads and charms.
- TV Studio Visit – Get a behind-the-scenes look at a real TV studio.
- Sidewalk Chalk Art – Draw yourself playing your favorite sport.

NECESSARY PAPERWORK
After completion of camp registration, a camp packet will be sent via email to parent or guardian to complete camp waivers and medical forms during the month of May or the Wednesday of the week before your camp begins. This packet will need to be mailed back to The Department of Campus Recreation prior to camp. Attention: Summer Camp, Campus Recreation, 1 University Plaza, Youngstown , Ohio 44555.
