The Youngstown Innovation Hub for Aerospace & Defense, managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), is positioning the region and the State of Ohio as a national proving ground for advanced and additive manufacturing, where ideas move from concept to market at speed and scale.

Because workforce classes at the Excellence Training Center (ETC) typically run five to eight hours per day, they don’t always fit easily into a traditional semester schedule. To make these hands-on learning opportunities more accessible, six workforce classes will be offered at the ETC in April and May specifically for YSU students.
Students can choose from courses in robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and additive manufacturing. Some courses require no prior experience, while others build on foundational skills and provide opportunities to deepen technical knowledge.
Thanks to support from the Youngstown Innovation Hub grant, the cost of these classes will be fully covered for YSU students.
These short-term, immersive courses are a great complement to YSU academic programs. They provide valuable hands-on experience with advanced technologies and help students stand out to employers after graduation.
Additional classes may be added throughout the summer, so be sure to check back on this page for updates and new training opportunities.
