February 2026

YSU student Jacob Norton earned an Honorable Mention in the International Trombone Association competition. In addition to his musical achievements, Jacob is an officer and active member of Theta Chi Fraternity and serves as president of the Penguin Trombone Society.

January 2026

YSU nursing student Natasha Nyahalay Sombie was honored by AdventHealth staff for her outstanding performance. In addition to her coursework, Sombie said her campus involvement played a major role in her success. As a third‑year resident assistant with Housing and Residence Life, she developed time management, prioritization, and interpersonal skills that translated directly to patient care.

Through Residence Life, Penguins not only build community but also learn to lead, problem‑solve, and create meaningful change. Two resident assistants from Cafaro House, Danile Shoaff and Brianne Randall, were recognized beyond campus for their outstanding contributions.
