Youngstown State University will once again transform its campus into a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture and community as it hosts the 28th Annual Summer Festival of the Arts on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.
One of the Mahoning Valley’s most anticipated summer traditions, the free two-day festival welcomes thousands of visitors each year to experience outstanding visual arts, live entertainment, family-friendly activities and local food vendors in a festive outdoor setting.
The Summer Festival of the Arts features a juried marketplace showcasing original works from talented artists and craftspeople representing a wide range of disciplines. Visitors can browse and purchase paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, textiles, woodworking, metalwork and other handcrafted creations.
"The Summer Festival of the Arts has become a cherished tradition that brings together artists, families and community members from throughout the region," said Katie Merrill, festival organizer. "As we celebrate the festival's 28th year, we are excited to once again showcase exceptional artistic talent while creating opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the arts."
Families can enjoy hands-on creative experiences throughout the weekend at the Children's Village. Live music performances will take place throughout the festival and, festival-goers can also enjoy a diverse selection of food vendors offering festival favorites and regional specialties.
The Summer Festival of the Arts reflects Youngstown State University's commitment to enriching the cultural life of the region and creating opportunities for meaningful community engagement through the arts. Since its founding in 1999, the festival has grown into one of northeast Ohio's premier arts events, attracting artists and visitors from across the region.
