Williamson College hosts accounting/audit update Dec. 10
The Williamson College of Business Administration hosts the YSU Accounting and Auditing Update 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (registration 8 – 8:30 a.m.), Friday, Dec. 10. This year’s update will be held both on campus and online.
The YSU Accounting and Auditing Update is approved by the AICPA for 8 hours of CPE education for Ohio and Pennsylvania. The registration fee is $225.00 and registration is online at ysu.edu/accountingseminars.
The course covers relevant pronouncements, exposure drafts, and other guidance recently issued in the accounting, auditing, review, and compilation arenas. Information on auditing, accounting concepts, trends, and rulings affecting public and private sectors will also be covered.
Seminar leader, Michael Hamilton, CPA, ABV, CFF, CTP, is chairman of the board of an international marine and defense contractor. Hamilton is CPA licensed in California, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and New York. He has been involved in numerous utility and energy industry restructuring and bankruptcy situations since 1989. He has served as the financial advisor to numerous interest groups where he bring his knowledge of both utility finance and his restructuring skills to maximize recovery for his clients. In this regard, his activities include due diligence, sophisticated computer modeling, creditor committee management and transaction negotiation. He has also served in an interim management capacity for a troubled gas distribution company and assisted a district heating and cooling company to develop accounting and budgeting controls and refinance its business.
Hamilton has also served as chairman and chief executive officer of MMC Energy, Inc., senior vice president for Powerlink Transmission Company, and the non-executive chairman of the board for MXenergry, Inc. He is Accredited in business valuation, certified in financial forensics and is a chartered global management accountant as well as a certified insolvency and restructuring advisor, a certified turnaround professional and a certified rate of return analyst. Hamilton also owns his own valuation, financial modeling and bankruptcy and restructuring practice.
