Several YSU programs hit national ranking lists

Several Youngstown State University academic programs appear on recent “best of” lists, including:

  • The Addiction Counseling program in the Department of Psychological Sciences and Counseling is listed as the 10th most affordable in the nation and the most affordable in all of Ohio. The rankings were developed by UniversityHQ, a website to help students navigate the higher education process. The website also includes YSU on its list of the "Most Affordable Leadership Colleges."
  • EduMed.org includes three YSU programs in its rankings of best online learning offerings: Best MBA's in Healthcare Management OnlineBest Online Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Programs; Best MHA Programs Online. EduMed.org analyzes more than 7,700 accredited schools and develops its rankings back on online learning opportunity, affordability and student support.
  • The YSU bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy is ranked among the top 25 in the nation by Value Colleges. “Your place in the VC ranking tells students that they can trust your program to provide not only a great education, but an entry to a rewarding career,” Value Colleges said in a news release. The rankings are based on tuition, student satisfaction and graduate salary.
  • The bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene ranks 16th in the nation, according to healthcare-administration-degree.net. The rankings are based on mid-career pay of graduates, student retention rates, average SAT scores of accepted students, student reviews and affordability. “Our faculty work extremely hard and continuously strive to recruit and graduate competent students who are ready to make a difference in the profession of dental hygiene,” said Ruth Palich, YSU assistant professor and clinical coordinator.
  • YSU is on Intelligent.com’s list of the nation’s 75 best online MBA programs for 2022. The YSU program specifically won the award for the Most Flexible Admission Process. Each program was evaluated on the strength of its generalist curriculum, the ability to customize each degree to a particular industry or skill set and its return-on-investment. 
  • Universities.com ranks several YSU programs among the top in Ohio, including Accounting, Computer Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Criminal Justice, Liberal Arts and General Studies, Social Services, Literature, Early Childhood Education and Mathematics. Universities.com says it uses a variety of measures in its rankings, including standardized testing, retention and graduation rates, student-faculty ratio and net price of attendance.
  • And YSU is ranked ninth in the nation for Master’s Degrees in Student Affairs and College Counseling by BestCounselingDegrees.net. The list is based on average graduate tuition.
