Athletics Hall of Fame - The best of the best
Seven of the top student athletes in YSU’s 110-year history, including a record-setting track and field star, an All-American football standout and the MVP of the Horizon League softball tournament, were inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame this fall:
- Bethany Anderson (pictured), 2004-08, Track and Field, thrower, eight-time Horizon League Champion, two-time Horizon League Field Performer of the Meet and 2006-07 YSU Female Athlete of the Year.
- McKenzie Bedra, 2005-08, Softball, two-time First-Team All-Horizon League, MVP of the 2006 Horizon League Tournament, only the third player in school history to bat above .400 in a season.
- Codera Jackson, 2005-06, Football, two-time All-American, member of the 2005 and 2006 Gateway Football Conference Championship teams and 2006 FCS Playoff Semifinals team.
- Ryan Jewell, 2003-06, Football, All-American, member of the 2005 and 2006 Gateway Football Conference Championship teams and 2006 FCS Playoff Semifinals team.
- Anthony Mitchell, 1973-77, Men’s Basketball, scored 1,198 career points, ranking 21st all-time.
- Chad Shultz, 1995-98, Baseball, First-Team All-Mid-Continent Conference and one of five players to rank in the top 10 in career batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
- James Terry, 2004-07, Football, three-time first-team all conference and a member of the MVFC Silver Anniversary Team.
