There is life outside the classroom at YSU and we think that is so important. Getting involved, attending events, learning leadership skills, and being part of the YSU community will make your life on campus so much richer, more memorable, and more fun. The Office of Student Activities can help you with all of that.
Our job is to enable you to enrich your campus experience with our efforts in:
Events: Keep an eye on the Sunday evening Student Events Digest email with updates on what is coming up each week. We offer great events like Welcome Week, Penguin Nights, Homecoming Activities and more. There is something happening most weeks. Attend something big or small—and expand your horizons, meet people, and make memories!
Organizations: We have over 100 registered student organizations on campus. See if there is one that fits your interests. If there isn’t—you can get a group together and form your own. Organizations that relate to your major, or just what you like to do for fun are all available.
Penguin Productions: This student group plans two great events each year—Fall Fire Fest (great music, activities, and a bonfire) in October, and Federal Frenzy (a music and arts festival downtown) in April. If this sounds like your thing, either check out these events, or go for a position on the Pen Pro Team.
Fraternity and Sorority Life: We have a number of fraternities and sororities on campus. Look into their recruitment events at the beginning of the academic year and see if sisterhood, brotherhood, and all the activities and philanthropies that come with it would be a good fit for you. Lifetime friendships are made here.
