YSU's Summer Honors Institute offers academically motivated high school students the opportunity to explore topics from a variety of disciplines in an active learning environment on campus.
The YSU Sokolov Honors College is hosting the event July 20-23, 2026, for high school students who will be in grades 9, 10, or 11 during the 2026-27 school year.
SHI courses are developed by YSU faculty and introduce students to disciplines that might not be available to study in high school through an engaging, hands-on format.
Tuition for SHI is $50 per student and includes lunch all four days of the institute.
8:30 AM - Arrival
9:00 AM - 11:45 AM - Morning classes
12:00 PM - 12:50 PM - Lunch
1:00 PM - 3:45PM - Afternoon classes
4:00 PM - Dismissal
*On the last day of SHI, families will be invited to attend a final presentation 4:00 - 5:00 PM.
Students will take two total classes (morning and afternoon), with each one spanning the duration of the institute. Students will rank their course preferences when they apply.
