FAQ

  • When can I sign up for orientation?

    Orientation registration will open on Monday, February 15.

  • How do I register?

    Visit ysu.edu/penguin-portal and select the tile for "new students starts here." Follow the prompts to select your orientation date.

  • I am an incoming YSU-BaccMed student who cannot attend on Saturday, March 20. What should I do?

    You should plan to attend honors orientation on Friday, March 19. Generally, we recommend choosing the first available date that fits your schedule.

  • I am an incoming honors student who has taken CCP classes. When should I attend?

    If available, plan to attend Friday, March 19 (all majors) or Saturday, March 20 (recommended for Engineering majors and accepted YSU-BaccMed students). If neither date fits your schedule, we recommend choosing the first available date that fits your schedule.

 

Event Details

Parking: students and guests will park in the M30 Wick Avenue parking deck (GPS address: 461 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44503). 

 

Orientation location:

Once parked, follow signs to Williamson Hall where orientation will be held. Click here for a campus map. 

The majority of the program takes place in Williamson Hall, but optional sessions at the end of the day may take guests to locations across campus. 

 

Overview:

During orientation, students will learn more about YSU and honors and have an early opportunity to register for their Fall (and/or Summer) classes! If you cannot attend an honors orientation, we recommend registering for the earliest YSU orientation that fits your schedule. Students are welcome to bring up to two guests with them to orientation. Students and guests will be together for a portion of the day then each group will have its own specialized programming. 

 

After orientation:

Students will have opportunities to stay connected with honors. Be sure to check your YSU email, as that will be the primary communication tool used after students attend orientation.
