Bio

I am a Assistant Professor in Social Work at Youngstown State University. I earned my Master’s in Social Work (1991), my M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work (1993) from India and my Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2006). I worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker in a General Hospital Psychiatric Unit in India for four years. I have taught several graduate and undergraduate Social Work courses at other universities for a total of eleven years before I came to YSU in Fall 2018.

Research Interests

Psychological, Social, and Spiritual aspects of adult mental illness; Ancient Indian culture; Nonduality in Hinduism; Gerontology; Integrated health care; Social work pedagogy; SoTL; Practice or program evaluation
