Dr. Latricia Kyle is a Full-Time Lecturer at Youngstown State University whose scholarship focuses on racial disparity, disproportionate minority contact, systemic racism, and policy implications within the justice system. A published researcher, award-winning advocate, and former probation/parole officer and CASA volunteer, she brings over 20 years of experience working with at-risk youth and justice-involved populations. Her career reflects a steadfast commitment to service, advocacy, and educational equity.
Race Relations, Intercultural Experiences, Racial Disparities, Juvenile Justice with Emphasis on Disproportionate Minority Contact, Policy and Media Responses to Institutional Inequities are my current research interest. Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Justice and Health Outcomes; COVID-19 and Chronic Disease Disparities (Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes).
My teaching interests include online course design, quality assurance, and peer review of undergraduate and graduate courses in Criminal Justice and related social science disciplines. Drawing on extensive experience as a course developer and subject matter expert, I am particularly interested in designing learner-centered, accessible, and outcomes-aligned online courses that meet Quality Matters standards. Having completed the Quality Matters Designing Your Online Course certification and currently enrolled in the Quality Matters Peer Reviewer Course, I seek opportunities to contribute to course development, continuous improvement, and peer review processes that enhance instructional quality, rigor, and student engagement in online learning environments.
