Frank X. Li received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University, a Master's degree from Youngstown State University, and his Ph.D. from the Case Western Reserve University in 1996, 1999, and 2005 respectively. Dr. Li joined Youngstown State University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2006, after serving the ferrous and non-ferrous metal industry for 11 years. Dr. Li advanced in academic rank to Associate Professor and Professor in 2011 and 2016 respectively. In 2019, Dr. Li was elected as Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Li is currently serving as the Director of the Rayen School of Engineering.

  • Research Focus

    Autonomous power conversions, RF engineering, Software Engineering, and Applied Magnetic Fields.

  • Expertise

    Dr. Li has more than 20 refereed publications and a US patent. He served as the master thesis advisor for more than ten graduate students. Dr. Li was appointed as a visiting scientist for Francis Bitter Magnetic Laboratory at MIT from 2014 to 2015. Dr. Li completed several externally funded grants as either PI or Co-PI. He was awarded the NASA Glenn Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2016 and 2017. The following are the principal publications,
