Bio

Debojyoti Biswas, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at Youngstown State University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas State University and subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Larson Transportation Institute at Penn State University, where he worked in the Smart Mobility Lab. His research lies at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and robotic perception, with a focus on 3D perception, multi-sensor fusion, and domain adaptation for real-world autonomous and remote sensing systems.
Dr. Biswas's work explores LiDAR–radar–camera fusion for 3D object detection, domain-adaptive detection under distribution shift, video anomaly detection, and edge-deployable deep learning. His research has been supported by agencies including the National Science Foundation, USDOT, PennDOT, and TxDOT, and he is actively developing robust perception models and multimodal systems for deployment in safety-critical and resource-constrained environments.
At YSU, Dr. Biswas teaches undergraduate and graduate computer science courses. He is committed to research-informed teaching and actively involves students in course-embedded research, capstone projects, and hands-on deep learning applications.
