Bio

Growing up, I had few opportunities as I belonged to a low-income family. We lived in one of the poorest counties in Southern West Virginia. Most of my family members were coal miners, carpenters, and a few educators. Following my father's career opportunities, we moved to Ohio when I was 10 years old, as my father became a Protestant minister. My mother was a high school teacher and worked at several schools. We lived in Cincinnati until I moved to Bowling Green to start my college career.
