Youngstown State University's Bitonte College of Health & Human Services will be holding a Walk with a Doc event Thursday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. to continue their support of public health.
Those participating in the program will meet at the center stage concourse near the former Dillard’s at the Southern Park Mall.
This walk will focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month and National Physical Therapy Month. The featured speaker at the event, Rachel McCall, will highlight the importance of physical therapy for those with cancer.
McCall graduated with a doctorate in physical therapy from YSU in 2020. She is a certified lymphedema therapist with over six years of experience in physical therapy.
All walks are held the first Thursday of every month and are free to the public. There is a featured speaker who gives a health talk on a selected topic for seven to ten minutes, and then participants walk for 30 minutes.
The Walk with a Doc program was started by Dr. David Sabgir to encourage his patients to be more active. What started as a small community event turned into a non-profit organization with walks in communities around the world.
