YSU Musical Theatre presents "Cabaret Unrequited" Feb. 15
Cabaret Unrequited, a showcase of tunes performed by students in the Musical Theatre program at Youngstown State University, will be performed 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, in the Eleanor Beecher Flad Pavilion at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown.
Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling 330-744-4269. Student tickets are $5 with student ID. Parking is available in adjacent lots for a nominal fee. Snacks and beverages will be available for sale at Overture Restaurant.
Coordinated by Maria Fenty Denison, coordinator of Musical Theatre at YSU, all proceeds from the cabaret will benefit the Musical Theatre program and initiatives. In addition, Jan Crews, collaborative pianist, and Dr. Kivie Cahn-Lipman, cello, will provide musical accompaniment, while Jeffrey Williams will provide cello realizations. Amy Wright is the Dance Program coordinator.
The show, geared towards Valentine’s Day and the possibility of unrequited love, features dozens of songs from a variety of shows such as Oklahoma!, Guys and Dolls, and The Little Mermaid, to newer musicals like Rent, Hamilton and Kinky Boots.
“The Friday evening after Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to get together for some emotional support,” Fenty Denison said. “YSU’s stellar musical theatre troupe will be back to serenade, console, and musically heal whatever ails.”
