Youngstown State University has launched PENGUINsafe, a new, free mobile app designed to improve campus safety for YSU students, faculty and staff on and around campus.
Developed in collaboration with YSU’s Police Department, Information Technology department and Office of Marketing and Communications, PENGUINsafe integrates seamlessly with Penguin Alert, the university's emergency communication system, to provide enhanced support in times of need.
PENGUINsafe offers a suite of innovative safety features aimed at promoting personal security and peace of mind for the YSU community. The app sends real-time safety alerts and provides instant access to critical campus resources, ensuring users are prepared in the event of an emergency.
“We are excited to introduce PENGUINsafe as a comprehensive safety tool for our campus community,” said YSU Chief of Police Shawn Varso. “This app reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing campus safety and provides students, faculty and staff with the tools they need to feel secure while on campus or walking between locations.”
