Monday, Jan. 30, 1 p.m. Dana School of Music guest artist Jim Snidero, saxophone, performs in Room 2222 of Bliss Hall.

Monday, Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m. “Too Many Sopranos,” featuring Misook Yun, Jennifer Jones Mosher, Rachael Pavoloski and Nancy Andersen Wolfgang, perform in Bliss Recital Hall on campus.

Wednesday, Feb. 1,12:15 p.m. The YSU Dana School of Music presents a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art, featuring the Dana Chorale.

Wednesday, Feb. 1, 7 p.m. Lauren Schroeder, YSU Emeritus Biology professor, presents “The Saga of the Mahoning River” as part of the YSU Lecture Series on Energy and the Environment. The lectures, sponsored in part by the James Dale Ethics Center, are in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall on campus. The talks are free and open to the public.

Thursday, Feb. 2, 7 p.m. YSU Penguins’ men’s basketball takes on Oakland in Beeghly Center. The ‘Guins play Detroit 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, also at home in Beeghly Center.

Friday, Feb. 3, 2 to 4 p.m. The Bridges Out of Poverty Student Union at YSU hosts a poverty simulation in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus. Friday, Feb. 3, 3 p.m. Reginald McGee, a second year postdoctoral fellow at the Mathematical Bioscience Institute at Ohio State University, presents a Math Colloquium in Lincoln Hall, Room 510. McGee will discuss his research on determining bio-markers for subgroups of acute myeloid leukemia and developing mathematics to better understand signaling pathways dynamics in leukemic cells. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4, 8 p.m. YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Natural Selection.” Free. The planetarium also hosts “So You Bought a Telescope,” 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4. People are invited to bring their telescopes and learn more about how to use them.
