Veterans/ROTC reunion set for Nov. 17

Youngstown State University graduate, ROTC officer and Vietnam veteran John M. MacIntosh Jr. receives the 2017 Cincinnatus Award at the annual Veterans and ROTC Alumni Reunion Nov. 17 and 18 on campus.
 

The weekend of events, hosted by the YSU Office of Veterans Affairs and the Army ROTC/Military Science Department, starts Friday, Nov. 17, 6:30 p.m., with a reunion dinner and program. MacIntosh, a 1965 graduate of YSU, will receive the Cincinnatus Award, presented annually to a local veteran who is connected to the university and has contributed to the community in a significant manner.

Also at the dinner, Kevin J. Petro, who earned his degree and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant through Army ROTC at YSU in 1993, speaks. Petro is a colonel in the Army’s Psychological Operations branch and chief of Military Information Support Operations at the U.S. Special Operations Command headquarters.

The reunion continues at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, with a tailgate brunch at the Veterans Resource Center on campus, followed at noon by the Military Appreciation football game vs. Missouri State in Stambaugh Stadium. All military members can receive six free tickets for the game by showing military/veteran ID at the Ticket Office.
