University Theatre's "Zombie Prom" kicks off 60th anniversary season

YSU University Theatre opens its 60th anniversary season with the production of "Zombie Prom" Oct. 6-15.

Zombie Prom Promo Stills_1.2.1 (1).jpg"Zombie Prom," a musical comedy set in the atomic 1950s where a teenage girl falls in love with a rebel who becomes a zombie, is filled with catchy tunes, energetic dance numbers and a storyline that is equal parts humorous and heartwarming. This cult classic musical is a thrilling and entertaining experience for audiences of all ages.

Cast members include: Nicholas Atwood, Canton, Ohio; Ryan Thomas Bedi, Marietta, Pennsylvania; Emalee Chappa, Hawkins, Texas; Chloe Nicole Downey, New Waterford, Ohio; Mallory Ehrhart, Antwerp, Ohio; K.J. Hudson, Minerva, Ohio; Sam Law, Hudson, Ohio; Brooke Marie May, Columbiana, Ohio; Samuel Edwin Nabring, Aurora, Ohio; Laynee Nichole Sanger, Mount Gilead, Ohio; Elise Ann Vargo, Westerville, Ohio.

The production also includes live music by the Musical Theatre Ensemble, conducted by Kent Engelhardt. Members include: Jan Cox; Shane Hogle, Conneaut, Ohio; Wilhelmine Loe, Indonesia; Blake Maurice, Sharon Pennsylvania; and Santino Testa, Boardman, Ohio.

In addition to the director and conductor, technical staff includes Music Director, Joe Spiro; Choreographer, Katelyn Cassidy; Movement Director, Lisa Howard; Scenic Designer, Todd Dicken; Costume, Wig and Makeup Designer, Katherine N. Garlick; and Lighting Designer, Ellen Licitra.

The show runs October 6 – 15 in YSU Bliss Hall's Ford Theater. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday matinee performance starts at 2 p.m. All seats are general admission. Adult tickets are $16. Special rate tickets are $9 for non-YSU students, YSU alums, senior citizens, Penguin Club members and groups of eight (8) or more. YSU students, YSU faculty and staff are free with a valid ID.
