Youngstown State University students, employees and others will participate in the Take Back the Night rally and march 6 p.m. Thursday, April 14, on campus.
The event honors the survivors of sexual assault and focuses on educating the campus about issues related to rape and sexual violence.
The march starts at The Rock on the campus core.
Before the march, YSU hosts a workshop on Bystander Intervention 5 p.m. in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Information and resources will be shared with students to teach them how to be positive bystanders in situations of potential sexual assault.
The events are part of YSU’s recognition of Sexual Assault Month in April.
The university also presents “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, an event in which men are asked to walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. The event is a way to get the community to talk about gender relations and men's sexualized violence against women. Registration is required. Proceeds will be donated to the Youngstown YWCA.
