Student reps YSU at Women, Wealth and Wellness Conference
Sophomore Megan Schmucker received a $500 scholarship and represented Youngstown State University’s Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance at the second annual Women, Wealth and Wellness Conference.
The virtual event, sponsored by the Ohio Society of CPAs and attended by more than 250 professionals, was led by women thought-leaders from around Ohio who shared stories of overcoming obstacles and learning to empower themselves and others.
“I have the benefit of the guidance of several highly-driven women at YSU,” Schmucker said. “They exhibit integrity, courage, compassion, intellect and many other virtues. Many of these women serve as role models in my life. I believe when strong and impactful women set a goal, great things can be accomplished.”
She said the conference allowed her to work on personal growth and development and also to see not only how important the human connection is and how similar we all are.
“At times, we each feel struggles, opposition, scared and insecure,” she said. “Yet, conferences and opportunities such as these help fuel current and future leaders with the self-love and encouragement needed to shape a better tomorrow. I look forward to watching the connections I made at the conference blossom into lifelong friendships.”
