JSTN CLMN exhibit opens, lecture planned
Justin Coleman, assistant professor of Studio Art at Denison University who utilizes the professional name JSTN CLMN, lectures on campus 5 p.m. Monday Feb. 4 at the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University.
The lecture will be followed at 6:15 p.m. by an opening reception at the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery in Bliss Hall, where Coleman’s work will be exhibited through March 1.
Earlier in the day, Coleman presents a workshop in the ceramics area in Bliss Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All events are free and open to the public.
CLMN, who appearance at YSU is part of the university’s African American History Month celebration, is a practicing artist working in sculpture and ceramics. He is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Delaware. His work has been shown in several galleries and exhibitions, including the Occupy Museums “Debtfair” show at the 2017 Whitney Biennial. He most recently created an installation for the 2018 Brickscape Residency. He is the recipient of a 2018 individual artist grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation.
