History Connection workshop focuses on collection management

Ohio History Connection’s Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor hosts the final session of the summer Toolbox Workshop: Collection Management Series 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Center on Wood Street in Youngstown.

Session speaker is Sherri Goudy, Ohio History Service Corps representative for Region 7 from the Logan County History Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The session explores the best storage practices for both archives and collection, how to protect your collection from potential pests and threats, and where to get necessary materials.

The Toolbox Workshop is a one-year outreach program led by the Local History Corps District 4 representative through Ohio History Service Corps’ AmeriCorps program. The programs are free and open to the public. The Center of Industry and Labor is at 151 W Wood St. in Youngstown.

Goudy is a graduate from Wright State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Music History and Literature in 2003 and a master’s degree in Humanities with certification in Archiving and Records Management in 2007. She is active with the Miami Valley Archives Roundtable and the Society of Ohio Archivists.
