Dana alumni trio performs April 17
The next Dana Alumni Recital Series, a partnership with the McDonough Museum of Art, features Tria Corazón in a virtual performance premiering 7 p.m. Saturday, April 17 on the Cliffe College YouTube and McDonough YouTube channels.
Tria Corazón is composed of three YSU Dana School of Music alumni: Anna Reitsma, Elliot Kwolek and Emma Donkin. Founded in 2018, the trio promotes new music and little-known works to audiences around the Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio region.
- Anna Reitsma, who earned a master’s degree in Flute Performance from YSU in 2018, is a freelance flutist and teacher in the greater Pittsburgh region. She won the 2017 Dana Young Artist Competition, was a featured soloist at the 2018 Dana Symphony Orchestra spring concert and has performed as principal flute and section leader of the YSU Wind Ensemble and the Dana Symphony Orchestra. Reitsma is currently studying at Duquesne University for an Artist Diploma in flute performance.
- Elliot Kwolek, clarinet, is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, freelance musician and teacher in Beaver County. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Bassoon Performance from YSU in 2018, followed by a master’s in Clarinet Performance in 2020. He has performed as principal section clarinet of the YSU Wind Ensemble and is currently co-principal clarinet of the Dana Symphony Orchestra. He also has performed bassoon as part of the woodwind faculty quintet at the Renova Music Festival and as a featured soloist with the Mercer Community Band.
- Emma Donkin, a pianist and composer, earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from YSU in 2018. She is a 2021 Alba Music Festival Composition Program Fellow. While at YSU, she composed music for a variety of ensembles. She also was a featured local artist at the 2018 Sundance Film Music Festival in Akron. In 2019, the W.D. Packard Band in Warren, Ohio, premiered her wind ensemble piece, Nova. As a piano student at YSU, she performed at the International Piano Festival in Germany, the International Horn Festival in Indiana, and with several ensembles. She is currently worship arts director at Portage Community Chapel in Ravenna, Ohio.
The Dana Alumni Recital Series features music performed by graduates of the Dana School of Music in collaboration with the McDonough Museum of Art.
