Business students named Beeghly Fellows

Megan Guliano, Lexi Kulisz, Tim Nesnidol and Matt Yourstowsky, students in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University, have been selected as John D. Beeghly Fellows for the 2017 Summer Semester.

The Beeghly Fellows program provides students with a paid fellowship working with the Ohio Small Business Development Center at YSU. Projects include marketing research, preparation of financial statements, export readiness studies, country research, business plan development, cash flow analysis and sales forecast.

The program is made possible by an endowment established at the YSU Foundation by Beeghly’s wife and children. John David Beeghly was a lifelong resident and businessman in Youngstown, and son of area industrialist and philanthropist, Leon A. Beeghly. He served as vice president and director of Standard Slag Co. and Stancorp, Inc., a holding company for industrial businesses.

Beeghly Family for making this generous investment in our business students,” said Betty Jo Licata, WCBA dean. “Providing our students with career-related experience contributes to the success of our regional businesses and the professional preparation of our students.”

The Beeghly Fellows are:

Megan Guliano of Warren is in the process of earning a Master of Accountancy degree and will graduate in May 2018. She was a Leslie H. Cochran University Scholar during her undergraduate coursework and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from YSU in May 2017. Guliano completed an internal auditing internship in the Controller’s Office at YSU, as well as a public audit and tax internship at Cohen & Co. in downtown Youngstown. Upon completion of her graduate studies, she will sit for the examinations to become a Certified Public Accountant. She will begin working as a full-time auditor with Cohen & Company in October 2018.

Lexi Kulisz of Canfield is a senior accounting major. This is her first semester as a Beeghly Fellow. She previously completed accounting internships at B.J. Alan Co. and Packer Thomas. Kulisz is a member of the YSU Honors and Scholars Program and is also active in Beta Gamma Sigma and WCBA Business Leaders. She has accepted a second accounting internship with Packer Thomas for spring 2018, and upon graduation plans on obtaining her CPA and working in public accounting.

Tim Nesnidol of Canfield is a junior finance major with a minor in accounting. This is his first semester as a Beeghly Fellow. Nesnidol is a member of the YSU Investment Club and plans to take his CFA level one exam after graduation and pursue a master’s degree. Having been a manager of a Youngstown business himself, Nesnidol has first-hand experience in the development of a small, up and coming business.

Matt Yourstowsky of Canfield is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration and will graduate this December. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management with a minor in Accounting in May 2016. He completed two internships prior to working with the SBDC, one as an event coordinator at Humility of Mary Health Partners Foundation and one as director of operations intern for the YSU men’s basketball team.
