"American Operatic Gems" concert Nov. 17 in Bliss Hall

The Opera Ensemble at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music performs 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater on the YSU campus. 

The concert, which is free and open to the public, is titled “American Operatic Gems” and features music by American composers, including Jerome Kern’s Show Boat, Victor Herbert’s Naughty Marietta, Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and The Consul; John Adams’ I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky, Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza, William Grant Still’s Costaso, and Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music
