Alumni to be recognized during WCBA’s 27th Annual Alumni Reception

The Warren P. Williamson, Jr. College of Business Administration presents the 2023 Outstanding Alumni Awards on Friday, October 20, in Williamson Hall, on the campus of Youngstown State University. The reception begins at 6 p.m., with the award presentation to follow at 7 p.m.

Recipients of 2023 WCBA Outstanding Alumni Awards include Charles George, Chief Executive Officer, Hapco, Inc. and Sapientia Ventures, LLC; David Stillwagon, Chief Executive Officer, Community Corrections Association, Inc.; and Marcy Angelo, Director of Operations, White Glove Payroll.

Outstanding Alumnus, Charles George, originally from Brookfield, Ohio, graduated from YSU in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he embarked on a career as a certified public accountant at Packer Thomas & Co., where he served as the youngest person appointed president of the firm.

Throughout his career, George has helped to launch four successful startups affiliated with additive manufacturing: Triptech Plastics LLC, Strangpresse LLC and Center Street Technologies, Inc., all based in Youngstown; and Denver-based Big Metal Additive.

George is also the owner of Hapco, Inc., based in Kent, Ohio, the world’s largest independently owned extrusion supplier and provider of industrial heat tools.

He is also the managing partner at Sapientia Ventures, LLC, a private equity firm based in Warren, Ohio that has invested in several new businesses, including GreenBoard IT and the West Warren Industrial Park. Sapientia is also the majority shareholder of The Business Journal.

George sits on the boards of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Team NEO. He serves as president of the Youngstown Community School Board of Directors; acting treasurer for the Second Harvest Food Bank; and since 2018 has served as a trustee at YSU.

He is married to Kathleen S. Padgitt, MD, and has two children: Alex and Leigh.

Outstanding Master of Business Administration Alumnus and lifelong Boardman, Ohio resident, David Stillwagon, graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in justice studies and from YSU with his MBA in 2017.

Stillwagon holds the position of CEO for the Community Corrections Association, Inc. in Youngstown and has over 10 years of experience in criminal justice working in various roles. CCA is a not-for-profit organization that operates three halfway houses, a community-based correctional facility, day reporting program, intensive outpatient programming and a G.P.S. monitoring house arrest program licensed by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Ohio Medicaid, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Stillwagon is responsible for all aspects of agency operations, including fiscal, programming, operations, development, and planning.

He is a member of the Mahoning County Stepping-Up Committee, Mahoning County Common Pleas Honor and Drug Court Advisory Committees, Ohio Chief Probation Officers Association, and president-elect for the Ohio Community Corrections Association and serves as the Project Director for the Mahoning County Corrections Planning Board.

In addition, Stillwagon serves on the boards of Youngstown Cityscape, Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown. He lives locally with his wife JoAnna and daughter, Lana.

Outstanding Recent Alumna, Marcy Angelo is a 2010 graduate of Hubbard High School and a 2015 graduate of YSU’s WCBA with a BSBA and non-profit leadership certificate.

Angelo, Director of Operations at White Glove Payroll in Youngstown, previously worked for Junior Achievement and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, both in the Mahoning Valley.

Her love of community and desire to help others has resulted in her participation as a volunteer with numerous organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association and YSU’s Pete’s Pride. Most recently, she and her sisters created Project Tom, where they receive free requests to send cards across the country and the world, resulting in over 2,500 cards sent to 50 U.S. states and 26 countries.

Originally from Hubbard, Ohio, she currently lives in Mooresville, North Carolina with her boyfriend, Eric. Angelo enjoys traveling, sports and racing, and spending time with her family. In the last few years, she’s visited over 85 racetracks in more than 20 states.
