Timeline for dining changes:
  • May 5th, 2025 through May 11, 2026
  • The following areas will be closed:
    • The Cove
    • Snack and Chill
    • KC Food Court, Dunkin', Jamba Juice, Pete's Treats, Wendy's
  • The following areas will be moved to temporary locations:
    • Pop Up Dining, and soft seating will be available in the Chestnut Room
    • Dining provider office moves to Jones Room
  • The following areas will remain open:
    • Chick-fil-A
    • Catering kitchen
    • Vending machines near Chick-fil-A

  • Chick-fil-A | At Chick-fil-A, we didn’t invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich. Our campus restaurant offers tender chicken specialties and sandwiches. Also try our signature waffle cut fries, fresh-squeezed lemonade and hand-spun milkshakes.
  • Christman Commons An exciting array of signature dining concepts at Christman Dining Commons including house-roasted deli selections at The Carvery, plant-based cuisines at Roots, allergen-free selections at Clarity and Peak Performance featured items focusing on athletic performance-based menu offerings. Other options will include classic meals, house-made pizzas, salads and grains, all-day breakfast and more!
  • Dunkin’ America Runs on Dunkin’—primarily focused on coffee and baked goods, including donuts, bagels, muffins, and sandwiches, along with frozen drinks and other beverages.
  • Be Bowl’d (Chestnut Room) A highly customizable, globally-inspired menu with build-your-own bowls, including Asian noodle dishes, Mediterranean grain bowls, burrito bowls, and more. This portable dining concept also features fresh salads, sides, snacks, and specialty beverages, serving as a preview for the full restaurant launching in 2026.
  • Top & Toast Flatbreads (Chestnut Room) A fresh take on pizza with customizable flatbreads and breadsticks, featuring whole grain and gluten-sensitive options. With gourmet toppings and high-speed ovens for efficiency, the menu also includes side salads and gourmet cookies.
  • Stack’d (deli sandwiches) (Chestnut Room) A full-service global deli offering a dynamic, made-to-order menu featuring international favorites like Italian subs, Greek gyros, and NY-style pastrami, alongside Fresh To Go options for quick, customizable meals. Accompaniments include house-made ranch chippers, pickles, and specialty bottled beverages
  • Smoke and Fire Mobile Kitchen (Outside the Chestnut Room) An authentic smokehouse and smash burger concept featuring house-smoked brisket, pulled pork sliders, and customizable smash burgers with fresh toppings and homemade sauces. The menu also includes fresh-cut fries, house-made pickles, plant-based options, and all-day breakfast favorites like skillet quesadillas and cinnamon roll grilled cheese.
  • Nova Coffee Kiosk at Maag (Maag Library, 2nd floor) A complete coffee barista experience with a full espresso bar featuring locally roasted coffees.
  • Satellite Retail Cafe in Cushwa will include an espresso bar featuring locally sourced, craft roasted coffees from Nova Coffee Co., a small, family-owned business based in historic downtown Warren. In addition, fresh-to-go meals and an array of snack and cold beverage options will be offered in this café.
  • Schwebel Café (Williamson Hall) This location will include an espresso bar featuring locally sourced, craft roasted coffees from Nova Coffee Co., a small, family-owned business based in historic downtown Warren. In addition, fresh-to-go meals and an array of snack and cold beverage options will be offered in this cafe.
  • Micro Market (Meshel Hall Bridge) A convenient, centrally-located grab-and-go hub for students and staff, providing quick snacks, essentials, and seamless integration with the food locker system.
  • Food Lockers (Meshel Hall, Cushwa Hall, Williamson Hall, Maag Library) Available at these four locations on YSU's campus, GrubHub Campus food lockers will offer a quick and convenient way to pick up meals. You will be able to order through the Grubhub Campus app, choose a nearby locker, and enjoy fresh, hot food with scheduled pickups every 30 minutes—perfect for students, faculty, and staff on the go!

Post-transition:

  • What are the policies about who can provide catering on campus?

    All on-campus catering with a value of $100 or higher must be done through AVI Fresh. YSU deparments can use Catertrax on e-cube to place orders.

    All food orders under $100 are to be pre-packaged items, regardless of the food supplier(s). Perishable foods are not permitted.

    Contract exceptions – Areas that are not subject to the AVI contract requirements are: Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Stambaugh Stadium, Beeghly Center, WATTS Center, Athletic concessions, and Wick Pollock House.

    Other exceptions – Advance approval needed.

    In order to be granted an exception, the department should request a quote from AVI before submitting a request for an exception. Requests are to be emailed to jlbyers@ysu.edu and need to be included when creating PO.
