Position Title: Fitness and Wellness Graduate Associate
Position Description:
- Assists in the organization and coordination of schedules and substitute requests, associated staff trainings, and policy/procedure monitoring for the fitness and wellness areas.
- Assist with all fitness and wellness-based programs, including but not limited to, group fitness classes, virtual programs, fitness assessments, relaxation programs, and wellness events.
- Assist in the creation, scheduling and implementation of all group fitness classes.
- Is responsible for assisting in the training and development of all group fitness instructors, personal trainers, and academic interns semesterly.
- Create, monitor, and implement programs and/or special events for patrons.
- Create and implement all campus recreation fitness, wellness, and incentive programs.
- Candidates must also adhere to daily office hours, participate in weekend events/programs, and assist with other duties as assigned.
- Preferred start date: July 1st but is negotiable upon acceptance of offer.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must have applied for his/her academic program or be a current Youngstown State Graduate student for interview consideration; must be accepted into program before graduate assistantship offer can be made by Campus Recreation; must maintain good standing within his/her program. Students must maintain enrollment in at least 18 semester hours of degree-credit course work for the regular academic year, and no fewer than 6 semester hours of degree-credit course work for any one semester. Approval is required to carry more than 12 semester hours or fewer than 6 semester hours in each of the fall and spring semesters. These students may work up to 25 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and lead. Strong ability to organize and coordinate simultaneous projects. Must be or willing to be certified in Group Exercise or Personal Training from a nationally recognized fitness organization.
