STEM Scholarship List

By completing By completing the YSU Foundation Scholarship Application, you will be considered for all scholarships listed on this page for which you are eligible. In addition, your application will remain on file for the academic year and you will be notified if any additional scholarships become available for which you may be qualified. You should file a new application every February to be considered for scholarships for the following academic year.

 
 
  • Sam E. and Barbara ABRAHAM Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time computer science or information technology majors of at least sophomore standing and a minimum 3.0. Must be pursuing a 4-year degree.
  • ADLAKA & ASSOCIATES Scholarship
    • Awarded to senior civil engineering or computer information systems majors who come from a family where the head of the household is presently unemployed.
  • Carl ALEXOFF Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time students in any STEM discipline who have achieved at least junior rank with a minimum 2.75 GPA. First preference will be given to graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.
  • ALTRONIC/STANDARD SLAG Scholarship in Engineering
    • Awarded to engineering majors of at least sophomore status and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Need is a consideration
  • ASSOCIATION FOR IRON AND STEEL TECHNOLOGY Scholarship
    • Awarded to full time students in chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, or computer science, who have completed first-year curriculum requirements. Must have at least 2.75 and currently hold a co-op or internship in a steel or steel-related company.
  • Vincent S. BACON Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time engineering major with at least a 2.75 GPA who graduated from a high school in Mahoning, Trumbull, or Columbiana County.
  • BAKOS Family Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full time student accepted into the Civil/Environmental Engineering Program. Preference to graduates of Campbell Memorial High School. Minimum 3.0, must be US citizen.
  • Dr. Jack BAKOS Scholarship in Civil (Structural) Engineering
    • Awarded to a full time sophomore, junior or senior in STEM with a preference for Civil Engineering majors with a structural emphasis. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • William T. BANCROFT II Memorial Engineering Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full time Ohio resident who is a junior or senior in Engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Need is a consideration.
  • Paul B. BANOCZI Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to a junior or senior full-time mathematics major with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • BIKULEGE Family Foundation Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time junior or senior engineering major with at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Lee M. BOOTH Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to incoming or current engineering majors. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Must be an Ohio resident with preference to Jackson Milton, Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties.
  • Irene and Earl BUCHEIT Memorial Scholarship in Engineering
    • Awarded to a mechanical or civil engineering major with at least a 3.0 GPA who resides in Mahoning or Trumbull County.
  • Drs. Kimberly and Hal BURCH Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time math major with at least a 3.0. Must be a US Citizen.
  • Frank M. CENTOFANTI Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time student majoring in mathematics with at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants who are working to help finance their education. FAFSA required.
  • Dr. James T.E. CHENGELIS Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to pre-med students with at least a 3.0 GPA and minimum of 24 credit hours, including successful completion of first year Biology and Chemistry sequences. Need is a consideration.
  • Nicholas H. CHENGELIS Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to pre-med students with at least a 3.0 GPA and minimum of 24 credit hours, including successful completion of first year Biology and Chemistry sequences. Need is a consideration.
  • Patricia F. CHENGELIS Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to pre-med students with at least a 3.0 GPA and minimum of 24 credit hours, including successful completion of first year Biology and Chemistry sequences. Need is a consideration.

    • Awarded to pre-med students with at least a 3.0 GPA and minimum of 24 credit hours, including successful completion of first year Biology and Chemistry sequences. Need is a consideration.
  • CIMINERO Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time students accepted into the Electrical and Computer Engineering program. Must be a US citizen with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Preference will be given to graduates of Niles McKinley High School in Niles, Ohio.
  • COCHRAN Diversity Engineering Scholarship
    • Available to a minority engineering major.
  • Francis P. CONROY Scholarship in Civil Engineering
    • Awarded to a student majoring in Civil Engineering, residing in Columbiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Mahoning, or Trumbull counties, minimum GPA of 3.0. Financial need must be demonstrated.
  • Dr. Ralph G. and Helen T. CRUM Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full or part time Civil/Construction Engineering Technology student from Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties with minimum 3.2 GPA. If part time, student must remain employed. FAFSA required.
  • Carol E. CUTHBERTSON Scholarship
    • Awarded to biology and chemistry majors with at least a 3.0 GPA who graduated from a high school in the 5-county area. FAFSA required.
  • William and Rebecca DANDO Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time College of STEM major with at least a 3.0 GPA. Must be a US Citizen.
  • Anthony, Elizabeth, & Dr. Janet DELBENE Chemistry Scholarship
    • Given to an outstanding Chemistry major at end of junior year. Must have already complete physical chemistry and have minimum 3.4 GPA.

    • For a graduating chemistry student with at least a 3.6 GPA who has been accepted to an MD school

    • Awarded to a full-time STEM major of at least sophomore rank. Min 2.75 GPA

    • Awarded to full-time STEM majors with preference to pre-med and engineering. Minimum 3.5 GPA, at least sophomore and successful completion of Biology I or Chemistry I. FAFSA must be complete.

    • Awarded to junior and senior majors in chemistry, physics, or engineering with an interest in materials science. Must reside in the 5 county area, minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA must be complete.

    • Awarded to engineering majors at any level with a minimum 2.5 GPA. FAFSA must be complete.

    • Available to students majoring in any STEM discipline. Must be a US citizen.

    • Awarded to a student in the College of STEM with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • John and Monique GUFFEY Scholarship in Engineering
    • Available to assist a graduate of Springfield Local HS who is majoring in engineering. Minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA required.
  • The Marjorie HARTMAN Foundation Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time biology or chemistry pre-vet major from the 5-county area; minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference to active member of the pre-vet society.
  • Robert E. HELTZEL, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to an undergraduate Engineering major who has completed the first year of the Engineering program, minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrates financial need. Must be a resident of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio or Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.

    • Awarded to an Engineering student based on need and merit. One award per year.
  • Herta JACKSON Scholarship
    • Awarded to worthy and needy engineering majors.
  • JOHNSON CONTROLS Scholarship in Engineering/Engineering Technology
    • Awarded to engineering/engineering technology majors, at least Sophomore standing with 2.75+ GPA. Need may be considered. Preference for graduates of urban high schools in the five county area.

    • Awarded to sophomore, junior, and senior STEM majors with a minimum 3.0 and demonstrated financial need.

    • Awarded to a full-time STEM major of at least sophomore standing and a minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA required.
  • Howard and Jeanne KARR Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate with STEM major with preference to veterans. Incoming students 2.8 minimum, YSU students 3.0 minimum.
  • John and Elizabeth KEISER Scholarship
    • Awarded to a STEM major of at least sophomore rank with a minimum2.5 GPA. FAFSA required.
  • Friedrich W. and Eva Marie KOKNAT Undergraduate Scholarship in Chemistry
    • Awarded to incoming freshmen or sophomores who took chemistry in high school and had at least a 3.2 GPA. A lower GPA may be considered if the applicant took Physics or Calculus in high school. Preference to residents of the 5-county area.
  • The Michael J. KOVACH, Jr. Scholarship
    • Awarded to an undergraduate electrical engineering major of at least sophomore standing with a minimum 2.7 GPA. Mechanical engineering majors may also be considered. Preference given to those working full-time while attending part-time, but full-time students may apply if currently employed. Must have complete FAFSA.

    • Awarded to a female STEM major, preference to science and engineering. Minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA required.

    • Awarded to an engineering major of at least sophomore standing who graduated from the 5 county area, Minimum 3.0 GPA

    • Awarded to graduates of Struthers, Cardinal Mooney, or other Mahoning Valley High Schools majoring in engineering or science; at least 62 hours, undergraduate, minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA required.

    • Awarded to full-time junior and senior engineering majors who work at least 20 hrs/week during the academic year. Must be a graduate of an Ohio high school with preference to Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana graduates. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • MALANDRO-WOODWARD Family Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time sophomore, junior, and senior females in STEM majors with preference for Biology majors. Minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA must be complete.

    • Full-time undergrad with preference to those with a business/entrepreneurial minor; minimum 3.0 GPA. FAFSA required.

    • Awarded to a full-time engineering student of senior rank who has graduated from a high school in Mahoning, Trumbull, or Columbiana county. Must have a GPA between 2.5–3.0. FAFSA required.

    • Established in memory of Dr. Stein, former professor of Electrical Engineering at YSU and awarded annually to a student majoring in Electrical Engineering.

    • Awarded to an electrical engineering major of at least sophomore standing and a minimum 2.5 GPA. FAFSA required.
  • Theodore J. STITT Memorial Scholarship in Civil Engineering
    • Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in Civil Engineering with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Need is a consideration. Student must be a resident of the five county areas of Columbiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Mahoning, or Trumbull counties with a preference given to a Lawrence County resident.
  • STRUTHERS-LIBERTY STEM Scholarship
    • Awarded to a STEM major of at least sophomore rank who is a graduate of a high school in the 5-county area. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Alexandra and Casimir SZMAJ Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering
    • Awarded to an undergraduate majoring in mechanical engineering who has completed at least the first year in the engineering program. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a completed FAFSA. Financial need is a consideration.
  • Herbert S. and Agnes T. WALLIS Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time electrical engineering technology student pursuing a BSAS. Must be at least sophomore rank with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference to veterans.
  • David WEISS Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time student, at least sophomore standing, majoring in mechanical engineering with a minimum 3.3 GPA. Preference given to those interested in working in motor sports. FAFSA required.
  • Myron WICK Scholarship in Science and Engineering
    • Awarded to a full-time student who has completed at least 70 hours and is majoring in chemistry, physics, geology, environmental studies, or engineering. Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • YAZVAC Family Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time student entering at least the sophomore year and majoring in mathematics or the sciences. Minimum 3.0 GPA and graduate of a public high school. FAFSA required.
  • Ralph and Helen YINGST Scholarship in Chemistry
    • To an undergraduate or graduate chemistry major with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • ZIRAFI Family Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time female student pursuing a degree in STEM with at least junior status and a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students from Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. FAFSA required.
  • Jerry J. ZUPP Scholarship
    • Awarded to a full-time Engineering and Technology student with at least 31 semester hours and minimum 2.7 GPA. First consideration given to residents of Mahoning Co. and second Trumbull Co. Need considered.
