YSU DEEP-C Scholarship Application

Information on How to Apply

The Developing and Encouraging Engineering Professionals—Commuters (DEEP-C) scholarship program will offer scholarships on average of $5,200 to first-time students pursuing engineering degrees at Youngstown State University. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years. Along with scholarships, recipients will be part of a cohort that participates in programming concentrated in the areas of community building, mentoring, professional and leadership skill development to promote student success.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW FOR FALL 2023!

 

Applications will be accepted until all scholarships are awarded.

To apply you must meet and complete the following:

  • U.S. citizen/Permanent resident/National/Refugee
  • High School GPA >3.0
  • Accepted to YSU STEM College with plans to major in engineering
  • Completed FAFSA and Pell Eligible
  • Mathematics placement into Calculus (via ACT/SAT or CCP credit) OR placement into Pre-Calculus (Math 1513) through the ALEKS placement test by June 30th
  • Written statement from student describing overall interest in engineering and which discipline they are leaning towards (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical)
  • Evidence of extracurricular/leadership activities
  • Completed application with signatures from parent/guardian
  • Preference will be given to those planning on commuting to YSU from home
