Welcome to the Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education!
We pride ourselves in our teaching and in the quality of programs that we provide. We emphasize applied learning, with many opportunities for student research, study abroad, internships, and community service. Our students compete nationally in Ethics Bowl, sponsored by the philosophy program, and Moot Court, supported by the pre-law program. They attend state and national professional conferences and present papers coauthored with faculty members.
Our classrooms are alive with discussion, debate, and hands-on learning. Students are expected to think for themselves, voice their ideas, and learn from each other. Faculty have enriched courses with a variety of technological resources.
Faculty and students in our college are deeply involved in the community. Our education students are in schools from their first semester on campus. Our anthropology students help out local police with forensic investigations. A variety of events (History Day, English Festival) bring local high school students on campus, and our college students assist with coordinating, managing, and judging their presentations.
If you’re a prospective student, come and visit us. Check out the links for our four departments, and let us know your interests so we can connect you with a faculty member with expertise in that area. We hope to see you on the YSU campus soon!
