Welcome to the Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Education!
Here, you learn by doing. Applied learning is our highest priority, so we offer many opportunities for students to participate in research, study abroad, and gain experience through internships and community service. Our students compete nationally in Ethics Bowl and Moot Court, attend state and national professional conferences, and collaborate with faculty members on research projects.
Providing a wide array of courses, from Forensic Anthropology to Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature to Social Media Literacy, our classrooms are alive with discussion, debate, and hands-on learning. Students engage critically with material, collaborate with peers, and discover new ways of thinking. Faculty have enriched courses with state-of-the-art technology, from 3-D scanners and printers to ground-penetrating radars to disability simulators for future teachers.
Faculty and students in our college are deeply involved in our campus community through The Jambar, History Club, and Student Government, as well as the local community. Education students teach in schools starting their first semester on campus, and anthropology students support Youngstown Police Department with forensic investigations. YSU students judge high school student presentations on History Day and assist in coordinating the annual English festival. They also present research at BCLASSE’s very own professional conference.
Check out the college website for links to our five departments and let us know your interests so we can connect you with a faculty member with expertise in that area. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
