YSU Dental Hygiene program receives $5,000 grant to enhance community services
The Dr. Madeleine Haggerty Dental Hygiene Program at Youngstown State University has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. This endowment supports specific focus areas, including social services for women, children, minorities and at-risk and economically disadvantaged populations.
The YSU Dental Hygiene clinic provides free preventive and limited restorative oral health services to all members of the community, regardless of income. Designated as a Safety Net Dental Care Program by the Ohio Department of Health, the clinic has served thousands of patients since its inception in 1976.
The grant will be used to purchase new equipment for the program, enhancing the quality of care provided to the community. Faculty members of the Dr. Madeleine Haggerty Dental Hygiene Program express their gratitude for the generous support from the Thomases Family Endowment. They extend special thanks to the Thomases Endowment Distribution Committee and Lisa Long, CEO Designate and Financial Resource Development director for the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.
