Federal Frenzy roars into downtown Youngstown April 27
The Federal Frenzy Music and Arts Festival, with headlining act Robert DeLong, is 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in downtown Youngstown, presented by Youngstown State University Penguin Productions, the City of Youngstown and The Summit FM.
The event on West Federal Street and Phelps Street is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for entrance.
“Federal Frenzy is five years strong and an established event in the Youngstown community,” Event Lead Megan Crees said. “Over 6,000 people were in attendance last year, and the response we’ve received thus far in anticipation for Federal Frenzy 2019 is truly remarkable.”
The PenPro Main Stage features LA-based electronic rock and roll musician Robert DeLong. Additional main stage acts include: Samfox, a soulful blues ensemble based out of Cleveland; Mourning [A] Blkstar, creating soul, punk, astro-blk heart music; and Sprit of the Bear, a Youngstown favorite with a blend of indie, pop, electric and rock.
Regional artists perform on the 330 Stage, sponsored by The Summit FM, a locally-owned and -operated member-supported public radio station. The lineup includes: The Shootouts, mixing traditional country with high-energy honky-tonk and hints of Americana; Sam Goodwill, a singer-songwriter creating alternative and rock and roll music; and The Dreamers, an Akron-based garage soul and rock and roll trio.
A diverse selection of YSU-affiliated student, faculty, staff and alumni bands round out the festival lineup: The Broken Relics, Deliquency Jones, East 9th, The Frank Toncar Project, Janaesound, Northern Whale, Pella Penguins, Pleading the Fifth, Radio Lark, The Safest Ledge, Steve Wright, The Super Babes, Very Good Friends, The VVilderness, Ziya MC and this year’s winners of the first-ever Federal Frenzy Faceoff, Black Wolf and the Thief and Juliet.
Downtown venues hosting music and activities include: The Federal, O’Donold’s Irish Pub & Grill, Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, Lemon Grove, Whistle & Keg, and a brand new location, Rhine Haus.
“With this being my first year on the committee, I cannot wait to see how the event comes together,” Federal Frenzy Talent Lead Allison Marado said. “It has been an amazing opportunity to be a part of a group that gives exposure to so many talented acts. A focus this year for the Talent Team has really been to make this an event for everyone by creating a diverse lineup and I believe we have accomplished just that.”
