Informal Online Course Review

At Youngstown State Online, we’re committed to helping faculty deliver a high-quality online learning experience. Our informal course review is a collaborative process designed to help you meet key standards for excellence.

What is an Informal Course Review?

If you’re teaching a web-based (asynchronous) course and would like input on areas like course structure, content organization, or student engagement strategies, we offer an optional informal review process.

This is a voluntary, non-compensated evaluation of your online course based on our internal course review rubric. This review is designed to offer constructive feedback and practical suggestions for strengthening the course experience for your students.

Any faculty member teaching an online, web-based course at YSU can request an informal review. Whether you’re revising a course, transitioning from face-to-face to online, or just want a second set of eyes—our instructional designers are here to help.

What to Expect

  • A review conducted by an Instructional Designer from Youngstown State Online who is APPQMR certified through Quality Matters
  • Feedback based on the same standards used in the formal development process
  • A summary of recommendations and strengths in your course
  • A collaborative, supportive approach to continuous improvement

How to Request a Review

To get started, complete the Course Review Request Form and include your Blackboard course ID. We’ll match you with an instructional designer who will guide you through the process and provide individualized feedback.
