Each year, the National History Day (NHD) nonprofit chooses a theme to guide students' research. The theme is broad, giving students room to research topics relevant to their own interests in local, state, national, or world history. Students connect their projects to the theme by demonstrating their topic's historical context and significance. This year, the NHD theme is Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History. Head to the NHS website to learn more, as well as to access NHD's useful collection of theme-specific resources.
