Request a Transcript

Due to recent events regarding COVID-19 all in-person transcript ordering (including rush transcripts) is temporarily suspended. Please place your transcript order online - all transcripts will be processed and mailed as usual.

General Notes About Official Transcripts:

  • Youngstown State University currently offers official transcripts via regular mail or expedited processing service. YSU does not fax or email transcripts.
  • Official transcripts cannot be released if a financial or administrative hold exists. You may contact the Penguin Service Center at onestop@ysu.edu to check for holds on your account.
  • Transcript orders for regular mail or expedited service can be placed online via the National Student Clearinghouse. Phone orders are not accepted.
  • Current students can request that their transcripts be processed at a future date so the current term's grades are posted or after degrees are posted.

Transcripts: USPS mail

$6 for each transcript mailed within the U.S., additional fees may apply to transcripts sent internationally. 3-5 business day processing.

  • Current and former students, as well as alumni, can request an official transcript for academic work completed at Youngstown State University. Please be aware that only the student may request an official transcript. An official transcript will only verify YSU courses completed. NOTE: There is an option to order a transcript to be "held for current term grades to be posted" or "held for current term degrees to be posted". Requests for transcripts of courses taken at other institutions should be directed to those institutions. Please allow extra processing time during holidays and graduation.
  • Regular Transcript service processing time is 3-5 business days.

Rush Transcripts to Be Picked Up:

Important Note: Rush transcripts cannot be processed on dates the university or Penguin Service Center is closed or on days that classes are cancelled due to weather. 
Fee- $12 each. Orders are placed in person at the Penguin Service Center, Meshel Hall, 2nd floor using the Registrar’s Store. Rush transcript orders cannot be placed online for pick-up. 

  • All persons placing or picking up a rush transcript order must provide a photo ID. 
  • Rush transcripts can only be given to the student, unless a third-party presents a signed Third-Party Request form with a copy of the student’s photo ID.
  • Rush transcripts are available between 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday, and Friday 9:00am-4:30pm. Requests made after 4:00pm will be available the next business day. 
  • If it has been 25 years or more since you attended YSU, please call 330-941-6000 prior to coming to campus, as your record could be offline or archived and these requests cannot be processed on the same day. 
  • Payment accepted is credit card or electronic check in-person at the Penguin Service Center.  
     

Expedited Transcripts:

Please Note: Expedited transcripts cannot be processed on dates the university is closed. Please refer to the academic calendar for a listing of these dates.

$35 for each transcript mailed within the U.S. to a street address (no PO Boxes). 1-2 business day processing

Fee – $35 each.

  • Expedited Transcript processing is 1-2 business days.
  • Requests must be received by 10 a.m. (Eastern Time) Monday-Friday for expedited processing and delivery using UPS next business day delivery.
  • Requests made after 10 a.m. will be processed and mailed the following business day.
  • IMPORTANT: Transcripts ordered for expedited delivery must be mailed to a street address (UPS will not deliver to a post office box; therefore, a street address must be provided).
  • If it has been 25 years since you attended YSU, processing time may take longer.

UNOFFICIAL ACADEMIC RECORD:

  • The unofficial academic record contains your courses, grades, credits, GPA, major, and certificates or degrees awarded. It does not have the University seal or the University Registrar’s signature.
  • Current students and alumni who still have access to the Penguin Portal may print out their unofficial record at no charge by logging into the Penguin Portal, choosing Student Records, and then View Academic Transcript. If you have a hold on your account that prevents you from viewing your transcript in the Penguin Portal please contact the Penguin Service Center at onestop@ysu.edu.  The Penguin Portal requires users to have their student login and password. For assistance with your password please contact the IT Service Desk at 330-941-1595.
  • Unofficial academic records cannot be mailed, emailed, or faxed by Records Services.
