Friday, January 26 – Professional Development Summit
Auditorium/Williamson Hall
8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The semi-annual event is a half-day series of panels focusing on topics related to career development and professionalism including information on building a professional portfolio, employer expectations, internships, leadership skills and opportunities, along with a networking luncheon with employers, alumni, and faculty. Students will have the opportunity to network with various employers and alumni who will serve on various panels throughout the day. Students register using Handshake. Saturday, January 27 – Williamson College of Business Administration Open House
Rooms 3422-3423 (third floor)/Williamson Hall
9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Interested in studying accounting, business, communication studies, economics, finance, journalism, management, marketing, or multimedia communication in college? Join us at the WCBA Open House on Saturday, January 27, 2024. At the WCBA Open House, you will:

  • Learn about WCBA majors, minors, and certificate programs
  • Interact with faculty, staff, and current students
  • Hear about WCBA leadership and global learning opportunities
  • Gather information about WCBA credit-bearing, paid internships
  • Talk to a representative from the Office of Admissions
  • See how the WCBA is preparing the next generation of professionals

The program concludes with lunch and options tours of the YSU campus.

Wednesday, February 7 – Meet the Employer Day
Weir Atrium/Williamson Hall
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Have your resume on hand for this business student-only career expo where employers are eager to meet and speak with you! Business students will have an opportunity to network with employers one-on-one. This event also provides employers with the opportunity to identify talent for internships and full-time positions. Sunday, February 25 – Beta Gamma Sigma Induction
Auditorium/Weir Atrium in Williamson Hall
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Students will have photos taken before the Induction Ceremony. Induction ceremony will be held in the auditorium followed by a dinner in the Weir Atrium. For more information, contact Dr. Jeong Hoon Choi at jhchoi@ysu.edu.

 

Saturday, March 16 – YSU Students Suit Up at JC Penney
JCPenney at Southern Park Mall, Boardman, Ohio
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Students will receive up to a 50% discount on select men’s and women’s career dress apparel, shoes, and accessories by showing their YSU student ID. Suits, dresses, sport coats, dress pants, shoes, and accessories will be available for purchase to create that finished look for the next interview or new job. Standard advice given by mentors and managers is to dress for the job you want. Your professional image can set you apart from your coworkers. More companies are turning to business casual dress codes. Looking professional in a casual atmosphere takes the right look. Sunday, May 5 - WCBA Spring Commencement Brunch
Chestnut Room, Kilcawley Center, YSU
9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
All students attending the brunch are congratulated and receive a YSU lapel pin. Selected students are also recognized with Outstanding Leadership Awards in each major for outstanding academic performance, leadership contributions and commitment to professional development.
