The YSU Early Alert Reporting System (EARS) allows you to connect students who may be struggling with campus resources and help them get on track to successfully complete the course. EARS alerts can go to many support offices on Campus, including the Center for Student Progress, the Writing Center, the Math Assistance Center, and more. Find out how to use EARS through this short training manual and/or video.
You can identify if students are engaged in your course by checking if they have submitted assignments, you can also check in Blackboard to see if they are accessing the material. In Blackboard Original, go to the Full Grade Center (how to here) or in Blackboard Ultra see this guide to check student activity. It is powerful for a student to hear from their instructor that if they continue their current path, they will not be successful in the course. Encourage them to meet with you to discuss catch up options or to reach out for help from the Center for Student Progress.
