The Youngstown State University Dana School of Music's Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (OCMEA) Chapter has been named a Chapter of Excellence by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) in the area of Professional Development for the 2024-25 academic year.
The prestigious recognition highlights YSU OCMEA's commitment to providing outstanding professional development opportunities for music education students. At YSU, the OCMEA Chapter comprised of music education students from the Dana School of Music who are dedicated to expanding their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.
The Chapter of Excellence Recognition was developed by NAfME to encourage collegiate chapters to plan and execute successful initiatives in areas including advocacy, music programs, professional development, recruitment, strategic planning, and service projects.
NAfME advocates at the local, state, and national levels; provides resources for teachers, parents, and administrators; hosts professional development events; and offers a variety of opportunities for students and teachers.
YSU OCMEA will be formally recognized and presented with the award at the NAfME Collegiate Leadership Advocacy Summit in Reston, Virginia this June.
