Our dedicated staff is committed to supporting the mission of Youngstown State University and the Division of Student Experience by facilitating students’ individual development through creating vibrant, inclusive communities where students can establish a sense of home and succeed academically.

Goals of Education and Community Development
Educate students on relevant topics for the responsibility of adulthood.
Prepare students for independent living as responsible, successful citizens.
Create a sense of belonging in a diverse, inclusive community.

To achieve these goals we focus our educational programming around these four pillars:

Community Development Fall Semester: Students will become involved in at least one ongoing constructive university pursuit beyond academics.

Spring Semester: Students will contribute in positive ways to the university community.
Academic Fall Semester: Students will report they have taken action to make the most of their academics at YSU.

Spring Semester: Students will report they have taken action to make the most of their academics at YSU.
Wellness Fall Semester: Students will reflect on their choices regarding use/non-use of alcohol and other drugs.

Spring Semester: Students will take two actions to achieve a well-balanced lifestyle.
Diversity Fall Semester: Students will contribute to an inclusive community in their hall.

Spring Semester: Students will be aware of one of their socialized identities and how that interacts within society.
