Ultra Features

The Ultra Course View provides simplified workflows and a modern design. The platform is updated on a monthly basis with new tools and features, therefore, there are some tools and features of the Original Course View that are not available yet in the Ultra Course View. The below list provides a broad overview of the most common features used and their current state in Ultra Course View. It is updated frequently as new and existing features are introduced or updated.

Announcements Course Announcements

Available

Course announcements will appear immediately when a student opens a course and on the announcement page. This feature now offers support for sending an email copy to students. Emailed course announcements now included both the course name and the title of the announcement in the email subject.

Also use the message feature within Ultra to send information as an email to students in the course.

Course Link Course Link Available with Limitations Course links are currently only available with discussion boards.
Course Menu -- Not Planned There is no course menu in Ultra. All the course content is listed on the main page within modules and folders making it easier to navigate. Course tools are listed in the Details & Actions pane on the left. 
Course Reports Student Activity Available with Limitations The exact reports vary between Original and Ultra. 
Course Surveys -- Planned for Inclusion

Alternative Idea: Use an online survey tool such as SurveyMonkey, SurveyGizmo, or Google Forms. Microsoft Forms is included in your YSU Office 365 account.

Discussions Discussions Available The format has been flattened to reflect a more modern approach to discussions.

Edit Mode -- Removed As the instructor, you are always in edit mode in an Ultra course unless you are in student preview mode.
Email Messages Available Instructors can send messages to students and enable the send an email copy to recipients feature. 
Glossary -- Not Planned

Alternative Idea: Create a document in Blackboard or upload your glossary as a file and include it in a centralized location within the course. You can also link to an external glossary tool.

Original course journals do not convert to Ultra courses and cannot be copied from one Ultra course to another.

Lesson Plans -- Not Planned Alternative Idea: Use learning modules to organize objectives, content, and assessments. Insert documents for instructional content that would have been housed in the lesson plan content section. Organize content sequentially or use conditional availability to release content in a desired way.

Test Question - Feedback Test Question - Feedback Available Automated test question feedback available for individual test questions. Instructors can enter feedback for correct and incorrect answers on auto-graded question types (T/F, Multiple Choice). Students will receive the feedback when they submit the assessment. For the initial release (Sept 2020), feedback is available at the question level only. 
Test Feedback Test Feedback Available with Limitations Settings are not as granular as in Original. You can choose to show question score and correct answers. You will return to the assessment and edit the settings panel when you want students to view question scores and correct answers. It is recommended to hide answers until all students complete their assessment.
Pools Question Banks Available with Limitations
