Being concerned about where to spend the night, or where to find one's next meal, may have significant negative impacts on university students, faculty, and staff, including decreased physical and mental health. If you find yourself, or someone you care about, worried about access to food, housing, or finances, please utilize the resources below or reach out to the Office of the Dean of Students for assistance.

The Pantry is located in 1405 Cushwa Hall, if you need assistance outside of regular hours, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at dos@ysu.edu or come to 3325 Cushwa Hall during business hours.

USING the pantry

You may place an order only once a week.

  • If you find yourself in need of additional assistance, simply email us at dos@ysu.edu.

You must scan in using the QR code and complete the order form upon arrival. 

  • Forms are provided at the Penguin Pantry; they are not available on-line.

Orders will be filled by volunteers and/or DOS staff members.

  • You may have a seat in the waiting area or come back prior to closing the same day to pick up your order.
  • You are not permitted to take any items from the shelves.

Orders will be filled to the best of our ability; however, we cannot guarantee the availability of all requested items.

If you are in need of business attire, please let a volunteer or staff member know and we will assist you.

How YOU CAN HELP

  •   If you are interested in volunteering your time to the pantry, please sign up using PenguinPulse, YSU's platform for community engagement.
  •   If you would like to donate to the pantry, please visit the Amazon Wishlist for frequently-requested items.
  •   If you prefer to donate to the pantry financially, please use the donation form hosted by the YSU Foundation. Be sure to select "Other" under "Your Gift Designation" and note that your donation is intended for the Penguin Pantry or the Penguin-to-Penguin Fund in the "Gift Details" section.
