YSU Flute Day

The Dana School of Music is excited to host the YSU Flute Festival! The event takes place on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Bliss Recital Hall. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the event goes from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Featuring Guest Artist - Ann Harrow: soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. She is Associate Professor of Flute and Piccolo and Head of the Chamber Music Department at Eastman School of Music. 

YSU Faculty - Stephanie Dennis, Professor of Flute and Piccolo.

Attendees can enhance their technique through specialized sessions, including an Alexander Technique workshop with Professor Emily Sapa, and a workshop, masterclass and recital with Ann Harrow. With breaks for lunch and more time to explore exhibits, the event concludes with a Flute Choir Concert.

The High School Honors Flute Choir is an opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to rehearse and perform an exciting piece written for advanced Flute Ensemble in a side-by-side setting with the talented Dana School of Music flutists! Students who participate will have the opportunity to enjoy the entire offering of the Flute Day events, and then perform on the closing Flute Ensemble concert! Additional information will be sent to interested students through the email provided.

Free parking will be available via the Wick Avenue entrance of the M30 parking garage adjacent to Bliss Hall (#25 on campus map-). Be sure to mention to the parking attendant that you are here for the YSU Flute Festival. Please park on the 3rd level in garage for easiest access to Bliss Hall.
