SciENcv is an electronic profile system for researchers developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) through an interagency workgroup comprised of the NIH, the Dept. of Energy, the Dept. of Defense, the EPA, and the Dept. of Agriculture, among others. Its purpose is to aid researchers in creating the Biosketches and Current and Pending Support documents needed when applying for federal grant awards. Researchers with accounts at eRA Commons, NSF, and OrcID, can link those accounts to SciENcv and import their existing data from those sites. The benefit is a reduction in the administrative burden associated with submitting grant proposals and reports by eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the information.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal agencies require all biosketches and current and pending support documents to be submitted in an approved format. SciENcv is one of the approved formats for both NSF and NIH grant applications. If an application is submitted in an unapproved format, the entire application will not be reviewed. As such, these federal agencies and others are recommending researchers begin using SciENcv for their biosketch and current and pending support documents.
The Office of Research Services, in an effort to make this transition easier for you, has put together several step-by-step guides to help you navigate and utilize MyNCBI and the SciENcv tool. These guides are listed below. As always, the ORS staff are always available to offer additional assistance should you require it.
