  • Background Check/WebCheck®

    YSU Police utilize the National WebCheck® program to meet the legislative requirements of academic programs, service programs, and licensure. These services are provided for University Business only.

    If you are an individual and paying for your own WebCheck®, use the Individual Webcheck Request Form and pay the fee via the University Bursar's Office. If you are required to get a WebCheck® and it was billed as part of your tuition, contact your department adviser for further details.

    If you are requesting a WebCheck® for a department within the University that will pay the fee via budget transfer/FOAP, use the Department Webcheck Request.

    If you are requesting a WebCheck® for an organization within the University or that participates in University business, use the General Organization WebCheck Request and pay the fee via the University Bursar's Office.

    Open WebCheck® times are:

    • Tuesdays, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM*
    • Thursdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM*

    Please call 330-941-3527 in advance to ensure an officer is available to perform your WebCheck®.
    The University Police Department is located at 266 West Wood Street (the corner of Fifth Ave. and Wood St.)

    If you are requesting a WebCheck® for a group of 10 or more, contact the University Police directly. A time and location can be arranged for your organization outside of the open times.

    If you wish to pick up a copy of your results, please call the University Police Department in advance to ensure they have returned. DO NOT walk in.

  • Individual WebCheck®

    Fill out the Individual Webcheck Request Form* with the appropriate information. . This form MUST be typed and the reason codes MUST be selected from the drop-down menus. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.
    It is the requesters responsibility to inform YSU Police if the results must be sent to an outside agency electronically, via US Mail (they will come directly from Ohio BCI and can take 30-90 days), or if the department or individual would like paper copies of the results. This can ONLY be done at time of fingerprinting. University Police is not responsible if you select the incorrect destination. If no choice is selected, University Police will not process your Webcheck®.

    If you are uncertain where the results should go or for the reason codes for your Webcheck®, please contact your advisor/professor or the University Police.

    Once completed, you must pay the University Bursar’s office by either:

    • Take the form to the University Bursar's Office on the second floor of Meshel Hall and pay the fee for your Webcheck®. The Bursar's staff will stamp the sheet and issue you a receipt.
    • Click Here to use the University Bursar’s online payment portal

    The fees are:

    • $37 for the BCI&I Webcheck® (Ohio)
    • $28 FBI Webcheck® (National)
    • $65 for both.

    Please contact the University Bursar for open cashier times or any online payment portal questions. The University Bursar accepts cash, check, credit card, and money orders. The University Police Department does not accept any payments.
    When done, go to the University Police Department during any of the open Webcheck® hours. You MUST bring the form marked paid by the Bursar's Office, your receipt, a valid government issued ID (driver's license, state ID card, or passport) and know your Social Security Number at time of fingerprinting.

    Handwritten forms will not be accepted

  • Internal University WebCheck®

    Fill out the Internal University WebCheck® Request Form (link to form) with the appropriate information of the individuals you would like to have WebChecks® performed on. This form MUST be typed and the reason codes MUST be selected from the drop-down menus. Handwritten forms will not be accepted. 

    It is the requesters responsibility to inform YSU Police if the results must be sent to an outside agency electronically, via US Mail (they will come directly from Ohio BCI and can take 30-90 days), or if the department or individual would like paper copies of the results. This can ONLY be done at time of fingerprinting. University Police is not responsible if you select the incorrect destination. If no choice is selected, University Police will not process your Webcheck®.

    Once complete, please forward the form to the Controller's Office (controllersoffice@ysu.edu, x1732) to complete a budget transfer to the Police Dept. Webchecks® account. The Banner account to credit is 111000-120501-503225-61.

    The fees are:

    • $37 for the BCI&I Webcheck® (Ohio)
    • $28 FBI Webcheck® (National)
    • $65 for both.

    Once the transfer is complete, inform the individuals to go to the University Police Department during any of the open Webcheck® hours. They must be listed on the Internal University WebCheck® Request Form and have a valid government issued ID (driver's license, state ID card, or passport) and know their Social Security Number at time of fingerprinting.

  • General Organization WebCheck®

    Fill out the General Webcheck Request Form* with the appropriate information of the individuals you would like to have WebChecks® performed on. This form MUST be typed and the reason codes MUST be selected from the drop-down menus. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.
